Car Audio Beats to Listen to While Driving

August 16th, 2011

We spend a great deal of time holed up in our cars, braving long distances, bad weather conditions and traffic jams. Just imagine driving alone in the dead of night with only the sound of our own breathing for company. Fortunately, there’s music to keep us entertained (and awake!) during those long hours. The advent of car audio devices has made it possible to enjoy our favourite music while in the car.

Different types of music suit different types of people. The younger set may get a kick out of listening to the voices of Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga blaring out of their car audio systems. “Fireworks,” “You Belong With Me,” and “Born this Way” are just some songs by these artists that young drivers may like.

For reggae fans, what better sounds to listen to than those by Bob Marley & the Wailers’ signature song “No Woman, No Cry” and Johnny Nash’s “I Can See Clearly Now”?

Bruno Mars’ smooth vocals that exhibit good doses of the artist’s pop, R&B, soul, reggae and hip hop influences are evident in songs like “Nothin On You,” “Just the Way You Are,” and “Grenade.”

You are not likely to catch red blooded headbangers rocking to anything but heavy metal beats playing from their car sound systems. Motley Crue’s “Shout at the Devil and Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” are just some good choices, as well as Soulfly’s “Rise of the Fallen.”

An important factor that spells the difference between enjoyment and irritation when listening to our favourite songs while cruising along the city strip is car audio quality. This is of course largely determined by the type of the car stereo system. Simply put, the better the car stereo system, the better the sound.

When it comes to car sound quality, a customised car audio system is your best bet because you get to buy top-notch car audio components individually and assemble them to build your own customised car audio powerhouse.

If you are a true lover of music and spend a great part of any given day inside your car, don’t scrimp on car audio accessories. If you get the dough but can’t distinguish the difference between the head unit and the amplifier, let alone assemble the various parts together, you had better entrust your customised car sound system project to the experts. There are many car sound specialists out there that combine quality products, excellent service and competitive prices to build your customised car stereo system arsenal that will do justice to your favourite songs.

JL Audio W7 Review

August 16th, 2011

The JL Audio W7 is the biggest baddest subwoofer on the market today. JL Audio, being one of the top manufacturers of car audio systems, pushed their limits came out with the W7. The JL Audio W7 is priced anywhere between $300 and $500 depending on what size subwoofer you get. I purchased the 13″ JL Audio w7 by itself from eBay for about $450.

The W7 has power handling capabilities of 1500 watts. Some say this isn’t much, but this is true wattage rating. Unlike other companies JL Audio gives true numbers meaning the actual input and output rating. When I got the thing I was blown away by the shear weight of it. Its gotta be about 50-100 pounds. Since I got the JL Audio subwoofer, I thought I’d go all out and get the JL Audio amplifier also. I purchases the JL Audio 1000/1 Monoblock amplifier from them. This gives 1000 watts RMS, which is all you need for this monster.

After hooking everything up, I was blown away…literally. This sub is the loudest single subwoofer I have ever came across. The JL Audio W7 simply shook my brain, along with everything else in my car. I would not recommend this sub to anyone who doesn’t want to be heard miles away. The W7 puts out the lowest, deepest, heart stopping bass imaginable.
